Riesling
Riesling stands out with a wide range of aromas from fruity to spicy, mineral, earthy to smoky – depending on the type of soil and vintage. This royal and traditional variety can be used to produce a variety of wine styles from different regions around the world. In cold regions, it shows the taste of green fruit and often also floral notes. It is richer in warmer climates; citruses and stone fruits dominate, but it loses some of its delicacy. It is a variety that is able to ripen well and accumulate sugar in the berries, but at the same time retain high fresh natural acids. It is therefore often used for the production of sweet wines, often with the use of the noble fungus Botrytis Cinerea. Ripe wines can resemble notes of kerosene, steel or flint.
