The wine is a blend of Frankovka (Bläufrankisch), which has matured for almost two years (23 months) in several small, medium and one large oak barrel. The primary harder substances harmonized during this time. The wine is beautifully balanced. The taste is pronounced after the cherry stone, which is characteristic of Frankovka  from the Blue Mountains. The longer aftertaste of the wine is complemented by the aroma of oak wood. The maturation potential is around 10 years.

about the Blaufränkisch VOC

“We use more ripe grapes for Frankovka VOC, which is typical of the Blue Mountains (Modré Hory) – i.e. the typical fresh acidity, aroma and taste of cherry stone with a light touch of barrel. The soils in the Blue Mountains are rich in calcium and magnesium, which is one of the reasons why Blaufränkisch thrives here. This variety also requires very warm soils on steep slopes, which the Blue Mountains really abound in. Soils on loess (the left bank of the Trkmanska) and on sandstone (rather on the right bank) give the wines a specific aroma, which manifests itself in a typical fruitiness with cherry notes. This slightly distinguishes our Frankovka from the Dolnokounika, which also stands out with a specific character, but rather in taste, with typical notes of smoke.”
